Ghost Story

I still find it crazy that a "non-reader" like me is in the middle of the 13th Jim Butcher's Dresden Files books.  I've really enjoyed most of them.  For one reason or another, I didn't like the 3rd book.  Part of that was I read the blurb for the 12th book in the back of the second.  The 12th book pretty much ruins the third.  As for the 12th book...well, the title is appropriate.  It's called "Changes" and it pretty much changes everything.  Without giving much away, it feels like and "Author's Clearing House" contest and there are lots of winners.  I honestly would have been content to continue reading books that were similar to the first 10 or so.  I guess the curse of the successful author is you want to feel like your characters grow and change, so the series never gets stale.  I can understand that, and I don't begrudge him for doing what he does.  Good stuff though, I definitely recommend you check them out.  And then (shameless plug) get the Lunatic Slayer Adventures books from Amazon, hahaha!

Instant Game Collection?

During all the E3 announcements, I was very much intrigued by the "Instant Game Collection" from subscribing to Playstation Plus.  Two of the games, Just Cause and Warhammer 40k: Space Marine, were on my list of games to get.  I was willing to pay about $25 or less for them, so I figured I would just get this instead.  While I far prefer to get physical media for my games (as I'm a collector....sorta), with 2 kids and 1 underpaying job for out family....that's not really the best option at times.  This was one of those times.  I'm not that interested in multiplayer, so I could download and beat Space Marine, then just delete it.  It wouldn't be sitting in my collection, but I don't know how long I'll have that.  Ugh, there's a sad thought.  Anyway, after failing to trade my 12 months of Xbox Live gold for a year of PS+, I luckily got a cheap code on eBay.  The seller basically raided the Sony booth at E3 and got a bunch of codes.  I don't really want to support theft, but I've sold some codes I got for free before, so I can't really throw too many stones.  All in all, a good deal.  Now if only I had the hard drive space for all these games...stupid mandatory installs.

On a completely different note, I've now read 10 of the Dresden files books.  Wow!  That should've been summer reading in school.  Ignore that it wasn't around then.  They are really good books, and if you like magic, give them a try.  I haven't read Harry Potter, but the Dresden books are likely Harry Potter books for grownups.  Yup, I went there, and you can't disprove that, hahaha!
